What costs are involved in setting up a Web site for my business?

Generally speaking, there are two costs: a design and creation cost and a monthly hosting & maintenance cost. If you're considering having NetCiti design and create a Web site for your business, we will sit down with you and explore a variety of design strategies based on the material and ideas you may already have on hand. Depending on how much work is involved, we will give you an estimate of how long it will take and how much it will cost you. Our monthly maintenance fee is $35 per month. Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will also charge you for hosting your web site. Monthly charges for ISPs vary depending on the ISP, the memory required for your site and the traffic visiting your web site. These cost could be as low as $14.95 per month. Check prices with various ISPs in your area (CCnet, Best, NetCom, AOL, ........).

What's a domain name, do I need one and, if so, where do I get one?

A domain name is a unique name for your Web site. you can think of it as your Web site's address. For example, let's say your company name is ABC Toys. A natural choice for a domain name would be ABCToys.com. You choose the name you want and, if it's available, NetCiti will register the name for you through a domain name clearinghouse known as the InterNIC at a fee of $150. You then become the registered owner of that domain name. $100 of this fee goes directly to InterNIC which covers the cost of your Domain Name for two years. InterNIC will charge you $50 per year after the second year.

What is covered under the monthly maintenance fee?

The monthly maintenance fee of $35, covers one minor change a month. This could be adding or replacing a new photo, change of address or phone number, adding a promotional statement or coupon, etc. It covers 1/2 hour of design work. Additional hours will cost $70 per hour.

Can I add up these monthly times for a major change (will the time accumulate)?

No. Each month you receive 1/2 hour free time for changing or updating the web site. These times will not accumulate if not used.
